Why Innovation?



Why innovation? Innovators see things that others don't. Now it may seem obvious and not difficult to imitate, but the truth of the matter is that it is more difficult to truly innovate without having first developed a higher level of cognition. Cognition is the way we think or our thoughts and as people mature in their thinking, they realize that they can offer much more of themselves to whatever they are doing.  



The famous Steve Jobs said, "Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower." What he meant was that while most of us prefer to stand out as leaders, very few take the necessary paths that made leaders who they are. These leaders didn't mind going against the status quo. They didn't mind the harsh criticism that accompanied them. They didn't mind the family members who abandoned them. They didn't mind the hard work it took for them to pursue their dreams. These unique thinkers thought differently to the majority and that became clearly visible in their work. They were truly unique in their Cognitive Orientation or in their way of thinking that proved to others they were leaders and not mere followers. 




That being said, how do we in whatever field we occupy develop such thinking that will benefit us, our work and the people in our sphere? How do we go from being a mere follower to a leader? I believe innovation is the key. Now novel thinking does not take place in a detrimental mindset. It needs the correct mental environment to be vibrant and fruitful.



Such mental atmosphere does not take place, first, without an active effort on our parts to develop our Cognitive attributes. We need to go beyond mere talk to truly investing in time and effort and with focus dedicate ourselves to developing our mental skills. The more we invest of ourselves to developing our minds the more we will reap its fruit and become more creative in our thinking. Creativity will give birth to the innovation we desire. It will help us to understand the world around us more clearly and develop a larger sense of vision and passion.


Creativity & Innovation is mandatory in today's competitive environments, whether in business, in employment or simply looking for a way of making life more meaningful and fruitful. Creativity means being original, using one's imagination to create something unique and original. It means taking a mental effort to move away from doing the same things in the same old way. It means actively and positive looking for new enhanced solutions.
