The Starting Point to Your Creative Journey

Creativity & Innovation is mandatory in today's competitive environments, whether in business, in employment or simply looking for a way of making life more meaningful and fruitful. Creativity means being original, using one's imagination to create something unique and original. It means taking a mental effort to move away from doing the same things in the same old way. It means actively and positive looking for new enhanced solutions.

Such 'Creativity' needs a significant level of brain input. No one should expect a sudden awakening one morning to feel a creative spirit take over. Creativity means hard mental work. It requires a certain level of mental stimulus to think out of the box. The mind must first be developed to think differently. Many tend to focus on creativity and innovation but neglect to understand the active role our brains play in the equation. If one is willing to learn from history we see that creative thinkers cultivated a different style of thinking. They trained their minds to persist, to focus and knowingly or unknowingly, was first passionately committed to what they were doing.

If you stopped for a moment and considered and thought through your life right now.....

·         Will you do what you are doing now for the Rest of your life?

If the answer is 'YES' well you have taken the first step in your creative journey.

If the answer is 'NO' you need to contemplate and reanalyze your priorities, your desires and try to find a 'YES' solution. You don't need to overwhelm yourself to find an answer, but keep working on your thoughts and you will feel drawn to some areas while other areas feel quite unappealing.

Give thought to the following points as well.

·         Do you feel that you are currently doing something that is beneath your potential?

·         How can you improvise and activate your creativity into your current tasks?

If you are a small business owner or a start-up take the time to reassess your business model. Take several days and continuously think over your existing business model.

·         Are you satisfied with your current business model?

·         How can you better define your target market?

·         Can you energize your business values?

·         Should you change your product or service?

·         Should you add on other products/services?

·         How can you extend the scope of your customer base?

·         How can you better manage your resources?

·         Can you improve on your expertise?

·         How can improve on the difference between cost and profit?

·         How can you better service your customers?

·         How can you better increase your input to the business?

These are some of the main points to re-consider and align your business with your future goals. Make Creativity and Innovation a priority in your life, a must have. Condition yourself to peg down that tent before building the fire.
